About The Role

The UK Defence sector is going through a period of unprecedented change, global instability and rapidly changing geopolitical conditions have resulted in the need for a great investment in UK Defence transformation.  Few times in recent history has there been such a need for the rapid and cost effective development of new technologies for the maintenance of UK national security.

What you'll be doing 

NCC is looking for a Chief Engineer – Defence (Digital Transformation) to join it’s rapidly expanding defence sector engineering function. A nationally impactful leader you will be pivotal in the establishment of the NCC and wider High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC) Defence Digital Technology Strategy. Forming strong relationships with the MoD, industry and academia, you will be responsible for the technical governance of all digital transformation projects delivered by NCC for UK Defence organisations.

What we’re looking for

As a multi-disciplined experienced engineer you will focus on the identification, development and exploitation of numerous digital technologies beneficial to UK Defence. Candidates with experience from some (but not all) of the following list would be preferred;

  • Artificial intelligence and HPC
  • Model based systems engineering
  • Autonomous systems
  • Digital twinning for manufacturing and materials development
  • Simulation, modelling and computational analysis
  • Sensing and data retrieval in manufacturing and service, IOT.
  • Information technology systems and cyber security

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the mentoring and growth of a high performing engineering team, will help to develop the NCC digital technologies capability and will be compliment to defence-digital initiatives across the wider HVMC.
