About The Role

Process Modelling Research/Advanced Research Engineer

We're looking for a Process Modelling Engineer/researcher to join a team that contributes vital work to innovative projects with world-renowned customers across a variety of industries. Reporting to the Capability Lead, you'll model composite manufacturing processes in the digital space, and work to design, optimise, and improve manufacturing processes for our customers.

While ideally, you'll have experience of modelling a variety of specific composites manufacturing methods, if you have a solid core profile of relevant skills, we'll support your development in diversifying your experience in a range of manufacturing techniques. 

What are we looking for?

  • Academic, industrial or both experiences - ideally, you'll be educated to Masters of PhD level within composites process modelling or exhibit relevant equivalent experience in the domain of modelling, simulations, and optimisation
    • example areas of expertise (but not limited to) include advanced/technical textiles manufacturing, prepreg/preform manufacturing, moulding, reinforcements and matrix characterisation, nano and novel composites, Sensors, process control etc.
    • Similarly, industrial experience can be in any field (not limited to) aerospace, wind, energy, high performance, Automotive and transport etc. 
    • any experience of using data science and machine learning techniques for design and/or processes optimisation will be advantageous.
  • Analysis - You have a strong understanding of the fundamentals behind process/mathematical modelling, ideally within fluid mechanics, thermal modelling, and FE methods, as well as mathematical skills, again, the area of expertise is less important if the transferable skills can be demonstrated/evidenced.
  • Composite Manufacturing - If you have a specialism within a specific manufacturing method, or a wide range of experience across different techniques, we'd love to hear from you.
