Location: Bristol based with Hybrid working – 2 days on site, 3 days home
Salary: £27,630 to £36,551 per annum (experience dependent)

Government Security Clearance: You will be required to undertake DV level security clearance if successful securing this role. Please only apply if willing to undertake clearance process.
Summary;
The NCC is the UK’s innovation partner! We’re supporting a range of interesting new projects in the defence sector and are hiring for an additional Information Protection Officer to join our expanding secure operations team.
The Information Protection Officer’s role is to ensure that policies and processes for secure operations are in place, communicated, and readily accessible to NCC personnel, contractors and visitors.
You’ll report into the Information Security Manager.
What you’ll be doing;
You’ll support secure working across the NCC, working collaboratively with colleagues to provide guidance and develop practical approaches to information protection alongside innovation, engineering and operations. They ensure continuous improvement of policies and process in line with developing requirements of legislation and accreditation.
Examples of specific activities you’ll use to achieve this include;
- Signposting to use of Secure Operations processes and policies
- Responding to queries
- Providing education, training and briefings to NCC personnel, contractors and visitors
- Supporting the development of practical approaches to secure working in engineering and office spaces, to enable technical and operational activity to happen in an appropriately secure manner
- Attending collaborative working groups such as Space Review Board
- Supporting security audits
- Supporting asset management
- Review compliance with security policies and procedures
- Document security risks, and support the mitigation of threats to the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems.
- Document security incidents and near misses in a timely manner, escalating if necessary.
- Support the Secure Operations team during visits and inspections by representatives of the Government or other contracting authorities.
- Support the recording and management of classified assets in accordance with established security procedures and asset registers
- Support with internal security audits, acting as a spot check for compliance to policies and processes
- Undertake other support activities as required by the business as time allows.
- Projects, Change and Improvement - Work with Delivery, Sector and Capability teams to ensure that Security is considered from the outset of a project, throughout the project lifecycle, and in transition to business-as-usual
So, what are we looking for in your application?
We will prioritise applications with background in fields such as engineering or defence. Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include;
- Experience working at a junior level similar Information Protection Officer role
- Willingness to undertake government security clearances.Existing security clearance a plus for us.
- Experience of creating and editing policies, processes and procedures
- Experience of developing training and briefing material
- Knowledge of information security risk management and a working knowledge of cybersecurity would be beneficial.
- Desirable: Relevant accreditations including Cyber Essentials, Cyber Assured, etc.
In terms of personal qualities, we will look for a high level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity. Good communication skills, analytical skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of people.
