About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Testing Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in engineering looking for their first job, to join a leading R&D centre offering excellent training and development. 

Working in our Materials Laboratory you'll be doing

  • Setting-up and operating testing machines and equipment according to standard procedures with supervision.
  • Recording and analysing test data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Assisting in preparing test specimens and samples for the team.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance schedule.
  • Learn and assist with mechanical testing (e.g., tensile, compression, Shear etc.) on composite materials.
In order to do this you'll need to be able to; follow all safety protocols, maintain a clean and organised work environment, collaborate with technicians, engineers and project managers to support ongoing projects and development work.

 

So, what are we looking for

  • A minimum of an A level, or equivalent level qualification. Relevant technical training or experience is a plus.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy to be able to record and analyse data.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Proficient in basic maths and measurement techniques.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Safe and responsible working manner in laboratory areas.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical testing procedures is a plus, but full training will be provided.
