Project Management Accountant

NCC

Bristol based with Hybrid working (2 days per week in office)

Salary: £35,188 to £45,286 per annum plus 12.5% employer pension, private medical insurance, very flexible employer.

Summary

You’ll sit within the finance team reporting to the Finance Manage and focus on supporting our project based activity as a specialist in the team.

We’re growing!  This is a new role for the company and opportunity to help us grow and develop our project accounting services.

This role is critical to ensuring that the Project Financial Accounting data contained in, and produced by, the NCC’s Finance System is reliable, accurate, and timely.

Examples of specific responsibilities:

  • Own the project accounting data produced via the Project Management system. Ensure data accuracy between systems using exceptions reports
  • Responsible for ensuring that Sectors comply with Grant Funding requirements, including Grant submission and audit.
  • Dealing with complex and non-standard ad-hoc requests to support the requirements of the business units. Where changes are required to the cost-accounting system, this role will be responsible for ensuring that the relevant changes are implemented in timely manner, whilst maintaining relevant controls over the finance system.
  • Implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of appropriate financial and commercial control and reporting systems and processes.
  • Import projects to the financial system, insuring accuracy of the information
  • Analyse projects profitability and manage the revenue recognition in accordance with the FRS 102
  • Work Closely with the Delivery Finance Business Partner to assist with the monthly Financial Reports
  • Liaising with other NCC departments, particularly project managers, to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial information being input into the Finance System.
  • Support with any ad-hoc queries related to projects in our systems
So, what are we looking for in your application?

We are open to people with backgrounds in different fields however if you have exposure to Engineering, Manufacturing or Research & Development projects that would be advantageous.  Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include;

  • Full or partly qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. CIMA preferable.
  • We could consider someone from either a pure finance background or potentially a project management professional who has focused on finance management.
  • Advanced level skill in MS Excel.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Worked in a project-based accounting
  • Desirable: Exposure to D365 system, Power BI and grant funding. Please apply if you have the core experience above, these really are desirable!
