About The Role

How would it feel to apply your knowledge and know-how within a world-leading technology company?

The National Composites Centre leads innovation in engineering and manufacturing technologies. But any world-leading engineering company (and especially such a techy one) needs a world-leading IT team to keep the cogs turning. This is where you come in.

We’re looking for an experienced Power BI developer to join the team on an 18-fixed term month contract. You will act as the focal point for MI reporting across the NCC. You’ll be joining a rapidly evolving business, focused on strengthening its reporting and data analysis capability to support future growth.

You’ll manage all aspects of the report development lifecycle, from requirements capture, to development, delivery, and maintenance. You’ll work closely with D365 system users, scoping out reporting requirements, evaluate and improve current BI reports, and maintain and develop the SQL database. You’ll be the go-to for system data and reporting at NCC, and will have the chance to set your vision for reporting management into the future.

What are we looking for?

  • You’re a Power BI expert, with proven understanding of Power BI principles; Dashboard development, DAX query language, Incremental loading, Admin and Security, Source Control, Disaster Recovery and Change impact analysis
  • You’ll have extensive experience of the report development lifecycle, specifically from a D365 data source.
  • You’ll need strong SQL development experience, including Stored Procedures, View, Common Table Expressions and Performance Tuning
  • You’ll have a strong understanding of data architecture and governance principles and best practice, be comfortable with Excel and VBA, and ideally have some knowledge of Power Shell, Power Query, Power Automate, Azure synapse, and Data Warehouse / Lake.

This role is an amazing opportunity to find and own your niche in the context of an innovative engineering company. And with the exciting scope of the NCC’s plans, this is a great step for us to take together.

What do we offer in return?

Flexible working patterns, company paid private medical insurance, great people, honorary staff status at the University of Bristol, a genuine focus on learning and development, and a chance to build your career in a thriving R&D facility with a bright future.

We see your future in ours. Apply now.
