About The Role

The National Composites Centre (NCC) is a world-leading innovation centre for composites, bringing together the best minds and best technologies to solve the world’s most complex engineering challenges.

The 3D Textiles team looks after automated material deposition and enhancement using techniques including braiding, tailored fibre placement and through thickness reinforcement. As an Engineer within the team, your role can involve a wide range of responsibilities, from concept engineering to design, to materials and process selection. The role of a research engineer within the 3D Textiles varies from project to project. Some work will be very 3D Textile specific, other will require a broader composites engineering experience.

So what are we looking for?

  • Ideally someone with experience within textiles manufacturing (2D or 3D), or another automated composites manufacturing method (and willingness to pick up 3D textiles manufacturing methods).
  • If you have experience within an R&D setting, or within a relevant sector (i.e. Wind Energy), that's a big bonus!
  • You're an experienced development engineer, with a good knowledge of the manufacturing toolkit and an intuition for problem solving within a practical context. You know the challenges faced by technicians on the shop floor and how to overcome them. If you have experience of materials and process selection, that's a bonus.
  • You're a strong team player, with excellent communication skills, whether liaising with your Engineering team, Technicians, or directly with Customers.

What do we offer in return?

Flexible working patterns, company paid private medical insurance, great people, honorary staff status at the University of Bristol, a genuine focus on learning and development, and a chance to build your career in a thriving R&D facility with a bright future.  And an opportunity to help shape a sustainable future for composite materials.

We look forward to receiving your application.
