About The Role

Since the launch of the dedicated Defence & Space team, we have seen rapid growth in the number of complex and diverse projects we have undertaken in partnership with industry, academia, and the MoD. Our team’s vision is to be the centre of excellence for composites in Defence & Space and we are looking for unique individuals who can contribute to our high performing team.

We are looking for an Advanced Research Engineer to support the technical delivery of a portfolio of diverse projects across the land, sea, air and space operational domains. This will involve you becoming a pivotal innovator within the Defence & Space team who will interface externally with the key organisations in these sectors. As a result, you will support the development of new composite materials technology for a number of critical Defence & Space programmes.  You will work within the multi-disciplinary NCC engineering community to deliver strategic research to support UK Defence and Space.

You’re a proactive engineer with an ambition to innovate, ideally with proven experience of materials and/or manufacturing research projects in the aerospace, defence or space sectors.

So, what are we looking for?

  • You have the ability learn quickly, in a sector which has high performance and diverse technology requirements across land, sea, air and space.
  • Composites knowledge is desirable, but additional skills in materials and process (manufacturing) engineering would be an advantage
  • We're open to candidates from all sectors, although, if you have experience of engineering/research within the Aerospace or Defence sector, additionally if you are holding any existing MoD security clearances, then we’d like to hear from you!

What’s in it for you?

This role will provide an opportunity for you to accelerate your career and develop your reputation within the UK Defence & Space sector. You will be working with leading engineering experts in design, materials and manufacturing across UK Defence & Space, and as a result utilising and playing a vital role in developing new world-leading capabilities in composites.

We look forward to your application.
