About The Role

Deputy Chief Engineer - Hydrogen
Competitive Salary DOE & Benefits

The National Composites Centre is at the forefront of the composites revolution.

Our story has been one of continuously striving to be bigger and better. In composites, that means thinking outside of the box. We’ve taken some steps to bring cutting-edge technologies to new sectors before, but really, as we reach the end of our first decade, we’re just getting started.

As Deputy Chief Engineer, you’ll take a key role in guaranteeing the technical quality of engineering output of programmes within the NCC’s Hydrogen portfolio and supporting the future direction of research in this evolving area. You'll lead some of our major upcoming programmes, working with senior PMs and engineers from across the business to ensure technical excellence in delivery. And with the wide range of technologies that feed into these programmes, from design to automation, digital engineering to materials, this is an opportunity to boost your experience and take a leading role.

So what are we looking for?

  • Leadership of technical programmes - You have some experience as a technical leader, with a record of  ensuring high technical standards in work packages. Composites are not absolutely essential but desirable
  • Technology - while composites aren't essential, experience with research and product development are
  • Hydrogen – The role takes a vital, strategic place within our Hydrogen team, so an interest in or specific sector knowledge of Hydrogren innovation is key

So why NCC?

  • We’re leading innovation on a global level. The NCC is accelerating cutting-edge technologies worldwide, and this is your opportunity to take hold of a novel challenge.
  • We’re a non-profit employer – you’ll see your work have a positive impact on the UK economy, far and near technology innovators, and the future state of technology for the greater good
  • The timing is right. We’re on the precipice of some big innovations, and this is your opportunity to make your mark on the future of NCC, and composites in general, making this a career-defining role.
