The National Composites Centre is the centre for innovation in composite materials. We work with a wide range of inspiring partners to help support the future of composites in industry, making the ideas of tomorrow a tangible reality.

We're looking for a new Engineer to join our Advanced Materials team. This team looks after exciting development work in non-polymer matrix composites, from ceramics to metals. Specifically they focus on bringing new industrial applications of composites to novel situations and harsh environments in sectors like Space, Defence, and Nuclear.

So what are we looking for?
Composites - you have a strong understand of the materials theory and practice of composite materials, can understand the challenges faced in novel applications, and have a passion for delivering new technology

Industrial focus - you've put your knowledge to the test in an industrial setting, or have working in research and development in an industrial environment. You have proven experience in a practical setting, solving real-world problems with real-world solutions

Novel sectors - Ideally you'll have knowledge and experience of working within a relevant sector where materials have to withstand harsh environments (radiation degradation, high temperatures, space environment), forcing engineers to think outside the box in terms of materials selection. Space, Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence etc.
 
Finally, due to upcoming work in highly secure sectors, we are looking for someone who is willing to obtain SC when a customer in the event of a customer request.
