About The Role
Chief Engineer - Aero Propulsion & Surface Transport
£58,610 - £71,658 DOE & Benefits
The National Composites Centre is at the forefront of the composites revolution.
Our story has been one of continuously striving to be bigger and better. In composites, that means thinking outside of the box. We’ve taken some steps to bring cutting-edge technologies to new sectors before, but really, as we reach the end of our first decade, we’re just getting started.
As Chief Engineer, you’ll take a vital role in guaranteeing the technical quality of engineering output of the NCC’s Aerospace Propulsion & Surface Transport portfolio. Beyond the day-to-day technical quality management, you're looking to the future, supporting the CTO team's activities and owning technology road-mapping for your niche sector area. Overseeing the output of one of one of out biggest sectors and helping to guarantee it's future, this is a career-defining role.
So what are we looking for?
  • Technical excellence - You're a strong technical leader, with a proven record of governing large portfolios of work and ensuring high technical standards. Composites are not absolutely essential but desirable
  • Strategy - You have a vision for the future of composite technologies within the sector and beyond. Experience of Aerospace is key, and Surface Transport would be ideal. If you have knowledge of experience in alternative propulsion technologies (electric engines/hydrogen-fueled transport), all the better!
  • Leadership - you have experience of leading a wide range of engineers and PMs to success across complex portfolios

So why NCC?
  • We’re leading innovation on a global level. The NCC is accelerating cutting-edge technologies worldwide, and this is your opportunity to take hold of a novel challenge.
  • We’re a non-profit employer – you’ll see your work have a positive impact on the UK economy, far and near technology innovators, and the future state of technology for the greater good
  • The timing is right. We’re on the precipice of some big innovations, and this is your opportunity to make your mark on the future of NCC, and composites in general, making this a career-defining role.
