About The Role
Chief Engineer – Capability
Salary DOE & Benefits

The National Composites Centre is at the forefront of the composites revolution.

Our story has been one of continuously striving to be bigger and better. In composites, that means thinking outside of the box. We’ve taken some steps to bring cutting-edge technologies to new sectors before, but really, we’re just getting started.

Now we’re preparing to take some bold leaps, taking composites where they’ve never been before. This is where you come in.

As Chief Engineer, you’ll take a vital role in guaranteeing the technical quality of engineering output of the NCC’s capability development, cross-catapult, and academic programmes. As part of the CTO team, you’ll coordinate technology roadmapping and help to steer the NCC’s technical future. And with our mission to expand the reach of composite technologies to a range of new sectors, this is your chance to secure your technical legacy.

So what are we looking for?
  • Varied sector expertise – you understand the challenges faced by innovators across sectors, from challenging legacy methods and procedures, to regulation. You’re clued up in the what, why, and how within this market.
  • Technical excellence – you’ve delivered technical engineering work to a high quality, ideally with a record in the R&D space. A blend of contexts from academic to commercial would be bonus.
  • Composites – You’re an expert in your field and can bring a genuinely authoritative view of composite technologies to the table
So why NCC?

  • We’re leading innovation on a global level. The NCC is accelerating cutting-edge technologies worldwide, and this is your opportunity to take hold of a novel challenge.
  • We’re a non-profit employer – you’ll see your work have a positive impact on the UK economy, far and near technology innovators, and the future state of technology for the greater good
  • The timing is right. We’re on the precipice of some big innovations, and this is your opportunity to make your mark on the future of NCC, and composites in general, making this a career-defining role.
