About The Role
Head of Programme Management
£55,294 - £67,326 DOE & Benefits

The National Composites Centre is at the forefront of the composites revolution. We’re accelerating exciting and innovative new technologies and working with industry to make the future of light-weighting materials a reality.

But any world-leading engineering company needs world-leading programme management practices to keep the quality of its output high. This is where you come in.

We're undergoing a period of intense growth as we diversify our offering to industry. We're taking composites where they've never been before, innovating in fresh sectors and delivering the future of new technologies to some exciting new customers. Our programmes teams are on the front-line, working closely with external stakeholders to plan out work, manage expectations, and deliver results. It's vital then that we have the right structures, tools, and procedures in place to guarantee quality across the board.

But you know that one size doesn't fit all. Our programmes are highly diverse – at any one time we're working with Tier 1 members on long-term innovations, and SMEs or Private Venture customers with rapid response work packages, and everything in between. You'll join the NCC to ensure that best practice is deployed across all programmes of work, regardless of their scope.

As Head of Programme Management, you'll be working in partnership with our Directors to define and implement world class programme management practices, processes, methods and tools and ensuring that these are effectively deployed across the NCC. You're responsible for developing a world class team and a unified but flexible approach to programme management at NCC, fit for a diverse future of engineering innovation.

So what are we looking for?
  • You've got tonnes of experience in leading a broad group of project managers, working on a wide range of complex technical projects across multiple sectors.
  • You understand the aches and pains that project managers feel, and know how to enable and develop them to be successful
  • You've seen the benefits and pitfalls of a variety of approaches to PM work, knowing how best to optimise the advantages of a given approach, and know intuitively how to integrate your knowledge within the NCC's unique R&D-focused environment
  • You've seen a diversity of organisations throughout your career and have substantial experience and understanding of how a complex business like NCC operates. All of this feeds into your principled approach to programme management.
This is your opportunity to make a mark on a world-leading R&D centre as we approach an exciting new phase. And with a collaborative, flexible, and open-minded culture, you'll be welcomed with open arms.
We look forward to hearing from you.
