About The Role
Chief Engineer – Construction & Infrastructure
£58,610 - £71,658 DOE & Benefits
The National Composites Centre is at the forefront of the composites revolution.
Our story has been one of continuously striving to be bigger and better. In composites, that means thinking outside of the box. Sure, we’ve taken some steps to bring cutting-edge technologies to new sectors before, but really, we’re just getting started.
Now we’re preparing to take some bold leaps, taking composites where they’ve never been before. This is where you come in.
As Chief Engineer, you’ll take a vital role in guaranteeing the technical quality of engineering output of your sector business unit. And with Construction being a key new growth market for NCC (and composites as a whole) this is your chance to secure your technical legacy.
You'll lead the technical direction of the Construction & Infrastructure sectors at the NCC. Working with industrial partners to understand their present and future needs, a team of dedicated programme and project managers in project planning, and a diverse and broad resource pool on delivery, you’ll be poised to guarantee the technical excellence of the sector’s output.
So what are we looking for?
We know it'll be a challenge to find a construction and composites expert rolled into one, so we’re not asking that you tick every box, but here’s what you might bring to the NCC:
  • Construction sector expertise – you understand the challenges faced by innovators in the sector, from challenging legacy methods and procedures, to regulation. You’re clued up in the what, why, and how within this market.
  • Technical excellence – you’ve delivered technical engineering work to a high quality, ideally with a record within the R&D space
  • Composites – perhaps rather than construction specifically, you’ve supported technical work in highly regulated industries, or have worked on large structure projects
So why NCC?
  • We’re leading innovation on a global level. The NCC is accelerating cutting-edge technologies worldwide, and this is your opportunity to take hold of a novel challenge.
  • We’re a non-profit employer – you’ll see your work have a positive impact on the UK economy, far and near technology innovators, and the future state of technology for the greater good (Construction is just one of the fresh sectors we’re pushing toward!)
  • The timing is right. We’re on the precipice of something big, and this is your opportunity to make your mark on the future of NCC, and composites in general, making this a career-defining role.
What are you waiting for?
