About The Role

The National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol currently supports a number of Engineering Doctorate students, in collaboration with the EPSRC funded Industrial Doctorate Centre in Composites Manufacture (https://cimcomp.ac.uk/idc/). With several EngD candidates having successfully completed their doctorate, and significant recent investment in new manufacturing technologies, the NCC is seeking to support up to 6 new EngD projects in polymer matrix composites manufacturing, in topics ranging from in-process monitoring and part verification, development of virtual manufacturing framework, simulation of automated forming processes to design, manufacture and inspection of multi-material primary structures.

There is also interest in data-driven manufacturing processes and development of sustainable composite applications, within the automotive, aerospace, construction and energy sectors.

The NCC are in a position to offer the following projects (please click on the below project titles for further information):

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE PROJECTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DUE TO TIER 4 VISA REQUIREMENTS.

Applicants with ‘home student’ status and holding or about to graduate with a first or 2.1 degree in structural or chemical engineering, materials science or physical sciences, should send their CV and covering letter in the first instance to idc-composites@bristol.ac.uk.
